Jakki is the Schools Service Leader – Extended Learning for Catholic Education in Tasmania. She is concurrently researching gifted education with the UNSW Doctor of Education program under supervisors Dr. Jae Yung and Dr. Geraldine Townend. Former long-term resident of Japan, Jakki passed N1 of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and completed her undergraduate degree at Tohoku University. Jakki opened an English language school in Sendai and ran a nationwide library project. Jakki is a past president of JATNET (Japanese Language Teachers Network of Tasmania) and current committee member of TAG (Tasmanian Association for the Gifted).
